Welcome to Ashland Family Therapy
and thank you for taking the time to consider counseling for you or someone you care about. During challenging times, I’ve appreciated having individuals who were able to support me to make positive changes and I would be honored to be one of those people for you.
- Approach & Philosophy
Rebecca Frey, MS, LMFT, QMHP
As a therapist, I want to help support you to make the changes you need to reach your individual and relational goals. I offer a warm, encouraging, and honest therapeutic environment where we will work together to identify the strengths and resources that will enable you to take transformative steps toward being your best and happiest self. I strongly believe that we can all benefit from spending time and energy on attending to what we need to heal past hurts, understand unhelpful patterns, and ultimately move forward. I view my role as an ally and witness to your journey. I will contribute my expertise and support to offer techniques, add insight, and help hold space for strong emotions but I will respect that you are the expert of your story.
I have been licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist for over ten years and am a clinical member of and former clinical supervisor for the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). I employ a primarily Strengths-Based, Solution-Focused and Narrative approach to therapy but have training in many modalities. My work is rooted in family systems theories and honors that we are all impacted by the relationships, communities, and systems that surround us so any goals we set are best reached when taking those into consideration.
I have experience working with children, adolescents and adults, both individually and as a group. The structure of each session will be based on your particular needs. I utilize talk, play, sand tray, and art therapies as appropriate to meet agreed-upon goals.

“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than a year of conversation.”- Plato
"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better." – Maya Angelou
Child Therapy
Children tend to act out rather than talk out issues the way an adult might. Use of expressive therapies such as play, sand tray, and art therapies provide a developmentally appropriate way for children to communicate and work through their feelings. Issues addressed might include:
- Anxiety
- Behavior issues at home or school
- Depression
- Dealing with a difficult change (divorce, illness, loss, etc.)
- Self-esteem
- Relational Issues
- Trauma (including physical and sexual abuse)
Adolescent / Teen Therapy
Adolescence is a complex and confusing time for both teens and the people around them. Issues that might bring anyone to counseling can be magnified by the pressures of teen life and the developmental changes occurring during this period. Therapy can help with issues such as:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Stress
- School and Social-Related Problems
- Self-Esteem
- Trauma (Including physical and sexual abuse)
- Grief
- Communication
- Self-harm
- Sexuality
- Identity
Individual Therapy
Counseling is a place to be heard and feel understood. It is an opportunity to receive support, insight, and techniques to accomplish the goals set forth in therapy. Issues commonly addressed include:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Stress
- Relationships
- Career
- Self-Esteem
- Trauma (Including physical and sexual abuse)
- Grief
- Communication
- Self-harm
Family Counseling
Family therapy isn’t defined by the number of people in the room or if they are actually related to each other but rather that the problems are best addressed by attending to patterns or systems that are in need of adjustment. Some common issues addressed in family therapy include:
- Trauma experienced by one or more members of the family (i.e., medical diagnosis, major move, accident, abuse, etc.)
- An addition to the family system (i.e., divorce, blending of families, birth, etc.)
- Loss/Grief
- Conflict
- Divorce
- Parenting techniques
- Domestic Violence
- When any member of the family is dealing with a challenge (i.e., mental health issue, substance abuse issue, etc.)
Facts & Fees
Insurance
Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. It is helpful to note that in order for an insurance company to pay for services, the mental health professional must supply them with an approved diagnosis. The following questions may be helpful in determining your coverage:
· Do I have mental health insurance benefits?
· What is my deductible and has it been met?
· How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?
· What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
· Is approval required from my primary care physician?
If you have an insurance company that I am not in-network with, you may be able to be reimbursed for mental health services. In this case, you would pay at the time of service and submit claims for reimbursement to your insurance company. My billing specialist will be happy to assist you with this.
If you do not have insurance and are interested in finding out if you qualify for OHP, one way to do this is to visit La Clinica in Phoenix, OR (www.laclinica.org) for an appointment with Javier, their OHP specialist. He is known to be very helpful! If you have recently moved, had a change in job status or marital status, you can go to www.healthcare.gov to get on a subsidized insurance plan. This may make healthcare and mental health care more affordable for you if you make more than OHP allows and do not receive healthcare through your employer.
If you have any question regarding billing your insurance or statements you receive about balances you may owe to Ashland Family Therapy, please feel free to contact iMed Billing and they will be very happy to assist you. They can be reached at:

Private-Pay Clients
Some clients pay for their services without the use of an insurance company. For some this is due to a lack of insurance. For others, this is a choice based on personal preference and privacy. I am able to offer a discounted fee for clients who are paying at the time of service.
Fees
The approximate length of face-to-face sessions are 50-55 minutes with intakes/assessments taking approximately 90 minutes. The initial session is billed at $240, individual sessions at $215, and family sessions at $235. Clients who pay at the time of service via cash, check, or credit card and choose not to use insurance can utilize discounted fees as follows: intake/assessment- $195, individual session- $155, and family session-$155.
Reduced fee services may be available on a limited basis.
Cancellation Policy
Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. As such, a minimum of 24 hours notification is required. If a client does not show up for a scheduled appointment, they will be required to pay for the full cost of the scheduled session. If more than one session is missed without notification, it may result in the termination of therapy services.

I moved to the Pacific Northwest from the East Coast over ten years ago and fell in love with the amazing people, tall trees, lush greenery, and open spaces. When we found the pocket of sunshine that is the Rogue Valley in Oregon, we knew we wanted to make this our home. I’m grateful to be raising my two children with my loving husband in this sweet community. We share our home with two foster kittens that never left and an older cat who is thoroughly annoyed by them. I enjoy reading, artistic endeavors, admiring nature, and home renovations. I find making old things and spaces functional and beautiful to be very fulfilling!
